ITEM 1) HEMISPHERE GPS
AWARDED TWO NEW PATENTS FOR GPS TECHNOLOGY
Hemisphere GPS, one of NavtechGPS'
major vendors, recently announced that it has
been awarded two new patents for innovative technology.
The
Method and
System for Synchronizing Multiple Tracking Devices for a
Geo-Location System patent (U.S.
Patent No. 7,292,186) enables more robust and cost
effective heading by using a single processor to compute
heading from multiple GPS receivers. Hemisphere GPS’s
Attitude
Determination Exploiting Geometry Constraints
patent (U.S. Patent No. 7,292,185) increases
the speed and reliability of Real-Time Kinematic (RTK)
solutions for multiple antennas at known distances from
each other. The entire system can be moving or
stationary while computing the RTK solutions.
These advanced technologies can already be found in
several of the Hemisphere GPS products we carry
including the Crescent Vector OEM GPS Compass

by_manufacturer/hemisphere_gps/crescent_vector_oem_board_940-4011-000.asp
and the new Eclipse dual-frequency receiver board.

447: Applied Kalman Filtering (4.5 days)
Dr.
Larry Levy (June 2-6, 2008)
http://www.navtechgps.com/seminars/GPScourses/sem447.asp
About this course:
This course is a highly intensive short course on Kalman
filtering and Kalman filtering applications. Emphasis in
the course is on practical applications, but sufficient
supporting theory is provided to give attendees the
necessary tools for meaningful research and development
work in the field. Considerable time is devoted to
modeling, the most difficult aspect of Kalman filtering,
in an application setting.
There will be a high level of instructor/attendee
interaction, designed to provide hands-on problem
solving and solution discussions. The learning
experience will also be supplemented by homework
assignments to assist attendees in improving their
understanding of course concepts.

About this course:
This 4-day course is intended for
scientists and engineers seeking to develop expertise in
the characteristics, features and processing of current
and planned signals from GPS and other GNSS systems. The
course will substantially benefit both those who need to
